This guide walks you through creating a new resource in CaptainBook, whether it represents an item (such as a boat, kayak, or piece of equipment) or a person (such as a guide or captain).
After setup, the new resource appears in the Resources list and can be assigned to your experiences.
Step 1: Open the Resources section
From the left sidebar, click Resources to open the resources overview. This page lists every resource currently configured for your operation and shows your plan usage.
Step 2: Start a new resource
Click Add a new resource under Manage resources. The creation form opens with the fields needed to define your resource.
Step 3: Fill in the resource details
Complete each field in the form:
Enter a Name for the resource (for example, Demo Kayak).
Choose a Category from the dropdown. Use Guide for a person resource, or Asset, Equipment, or Auxiliary for an item resource.
Enter a Capacity — the maximum number of bookings this resource can support at one time.
Enter a Type describing what the resource represents (for example, Kayak).
Option A: Item resource
For an item, select Asset, Equipment, or Auxiliary as the category. In this example, Demo Kayak is added as an Asset with a capacity of 10.
Option B: Person resource
For a person, select Guide as the category. Set the capacity to 1 and use the Type field to describe the role (for example, Tour Guide).
Step 4: Save the resource
Click Add a new resource at the bottom of the form to save. You are redirected to the Resources list, where the new entry appears alongside your existing resources.
Step 5: Review and edit the resource
Click the resource name in the list to open its details page. From here you can review its information and access further actions.
Click Edit resource to update the Name, Category, Capacity, Type, and any other settings.
