How to Create Your AI Assistant

Creating an AI Assistant in CaptainBook is quick and easy. In just a few steps, you’ll have a 24/7 sales and support agent that knows your products, answers questions, captures leads, and places bookings.

🧑‍🎨 Step 1: Personalize Your Assistant

Start by giving your Assistant a personality:

  • Full Name: This is the name that appears when it chats with customers.

  • Profile Picture: Upload a friendly photo or avatar to humanize your Assistant.

  • Gender: Choose how your Assistant is referred to in conversation (she/he).

  • Tone: Select the communication style — for example, professional, friendly, or casual.

  • Manager: Assign a workspace user who will receive handover emails if the Assistant needs human support.

🔌 Step 2: Connect to Widgets

Your AI Assistant only learns about products linked to the widgets it’s assigned to.

  • You can assign it to one or multiple widgets.

  • If your widget is installed on your website, the Assistant will appear automatically when active and AI credits are available — no extra setup needed.

⚙️ Step 3: Adjust Advanced Settings

For users who want fine-tuned control:

  • Temperature: Controls how creative or conservative the Assistant's responses are (default values are great!).

    • Lower values (e.g. 0.2) = more focused and accurate

    • Higher values (e.g. 0.8) = more exploratory and conversational

  • Top P (nucleus sampling): Defines the diversity of possible responses.

    • Lower values = more deterministic replies

    • Higher values = broader, more varied replies

    • Recommended default: 0.8–0.9

You can experiment with these settings based on how you'd like your Assistant to behave.

📚 Step 4: Let It Learn

Once created, your AI Assistant will ingest and learn all the products it has access to through the connected widgets.

  • This process takes a few minutes, depending on the number of products and the density of your inventory.

  • There’s nothing else to configure — just make sure the widget is correctly installed on your website.

Your AI Assistant is now ready to help guests, increase bookings, and save you time — all while representing your brand exactly how you want.
