Google Things to Do (GTTD) allows your tours and activities to appear directly on Google Search, Google Maps, and Google Business Profiles. When travelers search for things to do in your destination, your products can appear with pricing, availability, and a direct link to book on your website.

Before You Start

Make sure you have the following ready:

  • Google Business Profile: Your business must be listed and verified on Google Maps

  • Your website: With individual product pages and a page listing all your experiences

  • Product locations: Know the Points of Interest (POIs) your tours visit

  • Active CaptainBook products: At least one published product to connect

Step 1: Access the GTTD Channel

  1. Log in to your CaptainBook dashboard

  2. Go to Channels in the main menu

  3. Select Google Things to Do (GTTD)

  4. Choose the product you want to connect and click Connect

Step 2: Finalise Connection

After selecting a product, you'll be redirected to the configuration page. Fill in the following fields:

Field

What to Enter

Google Business Profile Name

Your business name exactly as it appears on Google Maps

Google Business Profile ID

Your unique Google Business Profile ID number

Category

Select the category that best describes your experience

Inventory Type

Always set to Operator Direct

Landing Page View URL

The URL of this specific product on YOUR website

Landing Page View LIST

The URL of your page listing all your experiences

⚠️ Important: The Landing Page URLs must be on YOUR website. Do not use CaptainBook embedded URLs like /embedded/all or /embedded/product/{id}. Google requires these to be your own domain.

How to Find Your Google Business Profile ID

  1. Go to Google Business Profile Manager (business.google.com)

  2. Select your business

  3. Click on Info or Advanced Settings

  4. Your Business Profile ID will be displayed there

Step 3: Configure Locations

Each location (Point of Interest) that your product visits will be listed in this section. The more locations you add, the more visibility your product gets!

πŸ’‘ Tip: Locations need to match a Google ID so they connect to real places on Google Maps. Setting just an address without matching to Google's database can cause errors.

For each location, you must select a Relation Type that describes how your experience relates to that location:

Relation Type

When to Use

Related No Admission Ticket

Location is related but admission is not included or irrelevant. Example: A walking tour that passes through a famous square or visits a free landmark.

Admission Ticket

Your product grants admission to this location. The customer is buying entry. Example: Skip-the-line tickets to a museum or attraction entry.

Supplementary Addon

An additional service that doesn't get the user into the location. Example: Parking tickets, audio guides, temporary exhibitions.

Unspecified

Default option when no other relation type fits. Avoid if possible – this is the least suitable option.

βœ… For most tour operators: Use "Related No Admission Ticket" for tours that visit landmarks, squares, or attractions without including entry tickets in the price.

Step 4: Set Cancellation Policy (Optional)

You can configure your refund policy to display on Google:

  • Set how much refund customers receive on cancellation

  • Define the cancellation window (e.g., free cancellation up to 24 hours before)

  • This information will be displayed to travelers on Google

Step 5: Complete the Connection

  1. Review all your settings

  2. Click Finalise Connection

  3. Your product will be queued for the next feed upload (processed hourly)

ℹ️ Note: It may take 24-48 hours for your product to appear on Google after the feed is processed.

Where Your Products Will Appear

Once connected, your products can appear in different listing types on Google:

Listing Type

Description

Tour Operator Free Listing

Your products appear on your own Google Business Profile. OTA listings may also appear alongside.

Experience Free Listing

Your product appears when users search for POIs near your tour locations.

Admission Free Listing

For products that grant admission (tickets) to a location.

Ads

Your product becomes eligible for Google Ads campaigns (requires separate setup).

Running Google Ads (Optional)

If you want to advertise your products on Google Things to Do, you'll need to connect your Google Ads account:

  1. Go to your Google Ads account

  2. Follow Google's instructions to link your Ads account to the Actions Center

  3. Contact CaptainBook support to complete the connection

  4. Once approved, your connected products will be available for advertising

ℹ️ Note: Contact [email protected] if you want to set up Google Ads for your GTTD products. We'll help you complete the linking process.
