CaptainBook sends notifications to keep you informed about new bookings, cancellations, customer messages, and other important events. The Notification Settings page lets you control how and when these notifications are delivered.
Accessing Notification Settings
To open Notification Settings, expand the settings menu in the left sidebar and click Notification Settings. Admins and managers can configure organization-wide notification preferences, while individual users can update their own personal notification settings where allowed.
Types of notifications
CaptainBook supports several notification channels:
Email notifications — Receive alerts directly in your inbox for bookings, cancellations, and other events.
In-app notifications — View alerts within the CaptainBook dashboard via the notification bell icon.
Push notifications — Get real-time alerts on your mobile device through the CaptainBook app.
Configuring notification preferences
The Notification Settings page organizes notifications by event type. For each type of event, you can choose which channels should receive the notification. Common event categories include:
Booking events — New bookings, modifications, and cancellations.
Customer events — New customer registrations and messages.
Payment events — Successful payments, refunds, and failed transactions.
System events — Account changes, security alerts, and platform updates.
Toggle each notification channel on or off for the events that matter to your workflow. Click SAVE to apply your changes.
Organization vs. personal preferences
Organization-level notification settings define the default behavior for all team members. Individual users may be able to override certain preferences from their own profile settings, depending on the permissions granted by the admin.
Triggered notifications
In addition to notification preferences, CaptainBook offers Triggered Notifications (also called Scheduled Notifications) that automatically send messages to customers based on specific events, such as booking confirmations, reminders before an experience, or follow-up emails after completion. These are configured separately from the Notification Settings page.
Tips
Enable push notifications on the mobile app to stay informed when you are away from your desk.
Review your notification preferences periodically to avoid alert fatigue from events that are not relevant to your role.
Use triggered notifications to automate customer communications and reduce manual follow-up.
