This guide walks you through the Gift Cards tab in CaptainBook, where gift certificates and their categories are managed.
After reading, you can locate existing certificates, create new categories, edit or delete certificates, track redemptions, and import or export gift certificate data.
Step 1: Open the Gift certificates section
From the dashboard, click Gift certificates in the left sidebar (near the bottom of the menu).

Step 2: View existing certificates and track usage
Use the Active, Archived, and Deleted tabs to filter the certificate list, and the Search field to find a specific one. Each certificate row exposes Edit and Delete actions plus a usage indicator showing how many times the code has been redeemed.
Step 3: Open the Actions menu
Click the Actions button in the top right to reveal the Categories options (Add a new category, View all categories) and the Import / Export data options.
Step 4: View all categories
Choose View all categories to see every existing gift certificate category. From here, use Add a new category (top right) to create another one.
Step 5: Add a new gift certificate category
Click Add a new category to open the creation form.
Enter a Name for the category (e.g. Holiday Gift Package).
Add a Description if you want one to appear on the widget.
Enter the available Amounts, separated by commas.
Pick an Expiration period β 1, 3, or 5 years, a custom duration, or never.
Decide whether customers can buy these gift cards directly or whether they are for internal use only.
Upload a Cover image (250 Γ 332 px, max 4MB, .jpg / .jpeg / .png).
Click Create a gift certificate category.
Step 6: Add a new gift certificate inside a category
Open a category from View all categories, then use its Add a new gift certificate button to issue an individual certificate against that category.
Step 7: Import or export gift certificate data
From the Actions menu, choose Import to upload certificates in bulk or Export to download your current data as a file.
