This guide walks you through creating a new partner in CaptainBook and configuring their commission tracking settings. After setup, the partner appears in your Partners list with a 15% commission rate and is ready to be attached to bookings.
Step 1: Open the Channel manager
From the dashboard, click Channels in the left sidebar.
On the Channel manager page, locate the Local channels section.
Step 2: Go to Partners
Click the Partners card under Local channels to open the partner account management page.
Step 3: Start a new partner
Click Add a new partner to open the create form.
Step 4: Fill in the partner account details
Leave Person Partner selected as the partner type.
In Name, enter the partner's display name (for example,
City Adventures Travel Co). This is the identifier shown across the Partners list and booking screens. In Email, enter a valid email address. The system uses it for booking notifications and partner portal access.
In Phone, optionally enter a contact number.
Step 5: Configure commission and payment terms
In Commission (%), enter
15to set a 15% commission rate.Check Includes voucher payment when creating bookings. With this enabled, the partner's voucher amount is automatically attached as a payment whenever you add them to a booking. Uncheck it if you only want the partner shown as the commission owner without recording a voucher payment.
Optionally check Notify customer so customers attached to bookings via this partner receive system notifications.
Step 6: Create the partner
Click Create partner. If the email format is invalid, the form blocks submission and highlights the field — correct it and submit again.
Once saved, the new partner appears in the Partners list with their commission rate, totals, and voucher payment setting.
Step 7: Review the partner profile
Click the partner row in the list to open the Update a partner page. From here you can change the name, email, phone, commission percentage, and payment behaviour at any time.
Track commissions
Commission tracking is handled through the Partners list itself: each row shows Total Voucher value, Total bookings value, and whether voucher payment is included at bookings. Use the Booking date filter and Export button on the Partners page to extract commission data per period. For a walkthrough of attaching partners to bookings, follow the How to track commissions link at the top of the Partners page.
